Writing 150,000 Words in a Month: Camp NaNoWriMo July 2021

This year, for Camp NaNoWriMo, I decided I was going to write 150,000 words.

Crazy? Yes. But that’s kind of how I roll during Camp NaNoWriMo.

In April of 2020, I wrote over 100,000 words for that Camp NaNoWriMo. And while it was tough, it wasn’t that tough. So I knew I could keep pushing myself and hit a higher word count.

I didn’t just pull this number out of nowhere.

Last April, I doubled the typical NaNoWriMo word count for my Camp NaNo project, and this time I tripled it. Also, I saw this blog post from Stacy Claflin, and knew it had been done before, and it could be done again.

So, for the duration of the month, I will be writing 6,000 words 6 days a week. Monday through Saturday, I’ll be sitting down to write, and I’ll be sharing the process right here.

Week 1: June 30 - July 3

Total word count for week 1: 15,212

Week 2: July 5 - July 10
